The Parish of Lachute / The Parish of the Lower Laurentians

St. Paul's, Dunany

E-mail Print PDF

Our summer community is diverse, from young families to senior citizens single, couples, and families. All are candidates to participate in the activities of the church. The congregation is open and desirous of innovation and change in meeting its spiritual needs. The Dunany Community is a “family”. There is much visiting and outreach although not necessarily because of church influence. If someone is ill or in need, the whole community becomes involved to share and to offer support and prayer.

Dunany is a rural community located approximately 15 minutes north of Lachute. It has informal boundaries established over the years by its residents and overlaps the municipalities of Wentworth, Gore and Brownsburg-Chatham and the town of Lachute.

The community includes four beautiful small lakes. These lakes provide excellent opportunities for fishing, swimming and boating (no gas motors permitted). There is a golf course, more of a family and community club, situated centrally in Dunany. There is a small year-round population, made up of many age groups and a variety of occupations. The population grows considerably in the summer. Through the Dunany Community Association the families work to maintain a uniquely high quality of life, conscious of the environment and caring for each other.

St. Paul’s is the only church in Dunany, many of the congregation attend other denominations when they leave for the winter. The current and potential congregation does not necessarily perceive it as “Anglican”, but rather as a common, comfortable ecumenical rallying point where active Christians can worship our Lord with song and praise.
