St. Aidan’s serves as a place of worship for the Municipality of Wentworth in the county of Argenteuil. It is supported by a core of local faithful which is augmented in the summer season by residents of nearby Lake Louisa. The church was built in 1894. It and the adjacent burial ground were consecrated on July 3rd, 1895, by the Bishop of Montréal. St. Aidan’s is a country church with a capacity for up to 100 worshippers. It is located in the hamlet of Louisa, a 20 kilometer drive from St. Simeon’s in Lachute. It is and has been well served over the years by priests from Lakefield and Lachute.
St. Aidan’s has services at 10.00 a.m. on the first two Sundays of the month, one being Holy Communion and one being a Family service. Music for the Communion service is provided by our organ when an organist is available, and music for the Family service is provided by a parishioner playing a guitar. On occasion St. Aidan’s will host a service for all of the Greater Parish
There is a small group that looks after readings and chalice assistance and many others quietly provide maintenance and carry out necessary tasks as required. Regular attendance so far in 2005 has averaged 25 people for the Sunday service and this does not count other services of which there was one baptism, one wedding and one funeral.
